Last week the Torah portion was Va'era. "Va'era" means "and I appeared." YHVH begins to reveal Himself in a special and unique way to the Children of Israel. We begin to see the balance of power shift from Pharoah and the gods of Egypt to YHVH, the Elohim of the Hebrews and His servant Moshe. (Moses) We gain greater insight into how humilty and suffering ultimately brings an exalting. In contrast, we see how unbelief, pride and rebellion bring about blindness and destruction.
